Dwight David Eisenhower, later President of the United States of America, was born here on October 14, 1890. In 1958, the birthplace was presented to the people of Texas by the Eisenhower Birthplace Foundation, including Amon G. Carter, Sid W. Richardson, Web Maddox, Houston Harts, Oveta Culp Hobby, and Fred Conn, in cooperation with the citizens of Denison. Joseph R. Pelich was the architect.
