Windy Hill Open Space Preserve is a regional park in the San Francisco Bay Area on the east side of the Santa Cruz Mountains, managed by the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District. Its open, grassy upper slopes stand out from the surrounding forested peninsula range. The preserve covers 1,132 acres, rising from near Portola Valley to a 1,905-foot summit with wide views in clear weather across Stanford University, San Francisco Bay, and surrounding peaks and coastline. About 14 miles of trails support hiking and mountain biking through grassland and wooded sections. The preserve also supports varied wildlife, and Sausal Pond provides a small but important wetland habitat.
