Mount Scott, called Pisaroya or “Big Mountain” in Comanche, is a prominent Wichita Mountains peak in southwestern Oklahoma near Lawton and Fort Sill. At 2,464 feet, it is widely regarded as one of the refuge’s two highest peaks and the highest easily reached by the public. A paved road climbs more than three miles to the summit, where broad views stretch across the wildlife refuge and surrounding grasslands. Managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, it is a popular destination for drivers, cyclists, hikers, and rock climbers. Named for General Winfield Scott, it has also stood near a long military presence connected to Fort Sill and wartime training.
