Governor Thompson State Park is a two thousand eight hundred-acre Wisconsin state park in Marinette County, northwest of Crivitz, with extensive shoreline on the Caldron Falls Reservoir and frontage on Woods Lake and Huber Lake, linked nearby to the Peshtigo River State Forest. Created in 2000 during the centennial year of Wisconsin’s state park system and named for Governor Tommy Thompson, it was assembled from the former Paust Woods Lake Resort and additional lakefront acquired from Wisconsin Public Service Corporation. Opening in 2005, it became a public landscape focused on boating, camping, hiking, swimming, and shoreline access in a setting of water and forest.
