Carey Dome Fire Lookout is a historic fire lookout complex in the Nez Perce National Forest near Burgdorf in Idaho County, Idaho. About 9 miles north of the Burgdorf Guard Station, it centers on an Aermotor Company steel lookout tower assembled in 1934 that rises 85 feet to a 7-by-7-foot cab. The site also includes a log cabin residence built in 1943 and a weather station installed by the 1950s or earlier, while a flagpole is present but not considered a historic contributing feature. Together, these structures preserve the working infrastructure once used to watch for wildfires in this part of Idaho’s national forest.
