Moraine View State Recreation Area is a 1,687-acre public park near Le Roy in central Illinois, managed for active outdoor use with camping, hiking, swimming, boating, hunting, and fishing. Established in 1959 as the McLean County Conservation Area, it was renamed Moraine View State Park in 1975 and took its current name in 1995. At its center is 158-acre Dawson Lake, an artificial reservoir built in 1962 and 1963 that supports stocked fishing. The park sits on a glacial moraine formed during the Wisconsin glaciation, at the headwaters of Salt Creek, and reflects the meeting of geology, water, and recreation.
