Mount Rushmore features majestic figures of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln surrounded by the beauty of the Black Hills of South Dakota, representing the birth, growth, development, and preservation of the country. It connects the history of the first inhabitants with the diversity of America today and brings visitors face to face with a rich shared heritage. Weather there can be highly variable in any season, with summer high temperatures ranging from 70 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, fall highs from 45 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, winter highs from 20 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and spring highs from 30 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. July and August are the warmest months, December and January the coldest, March and April receive the most snow, and May and June receive the most rain.
