The Stamford Museum & Nature Center in North Stamford, Connecticut, is a family-oriented campus that combines art, history, nature, agriculture, and astronomy on 118 acres of a former private estate. Founded in 1936 by local leaders headed by Dr. G.R.R. Hertzberg, it began in three rooms downtown before moving twice and settling in 1955 on the former Henri Bendel estate. Its grounds include the Bendel Mansion, a working farm, woodland trails, and educational centers, while its collections span natural history, art, and local artifacts. With astronomy programs, hands-on learning, and broad public offerings, it continues its original mission of connecting daily life with art, science, history, and nature.
