The Buseck Center for Meteorite Studies at Arizona State University’s Tempe campus is both a research center and a public museum. Founded in 1960, it holds the world’s largest university-based meteorite collection, with specimens from more than 1,600 separate meteorite falls and finds. These samples support international research in planetary science, geology, and space science, helping scientists study the solar system’s formation and the changing nature of planetary materials over time. The center also opens this work to the public through its meteorite museum. In 2021, it was renamed to honor Professor Peter R. Buseck.
