From 1919 to 1991, American Legion Veedersburg Post 288 honored those from Veedersburg and Vanburen Township who served their country and those who gave their lives in that service. The memorial names Lozan R. Bantz, Robert Edwards, Charles Forrest, Alva Gressmire, Frank Odle, Clyde C. Rogers, and Guy Smith for World War I; Arnet L. Furr, Gerald B. Krout, Kenneth E. Krout, Zenith L. Krout, William R. Landes, Wayne T. Marsh, William R. Sheets, Gordon Stonebraker, and R. Earl Dicks for World War II; Ernest R. Krout, Allen M. Bowman, and Robert D. Lang for Korea; and James D. Douglas for Vietnam.
