Agate Beach State Recreation Site is a small Oregon coastal park between Newport and Agate Beach, occupying 18.48 acres between the old and new alignments of U.S. Highway 101. Created in 1969 from land bought from the Lincoln County Development Company and managed by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, it serves as a year-round, easy-access stop that attracts about 190,000 visitors each year. Its main significance is straightforward public access to the beach, reached by a path and tunnel under the old highway. Restrooms and picnic tables support activities including fishing, surfing, razor clam digging, kite flying, agate hunting, birdwatching, and photography.
