The Broadway Lunch opened in 1923 with George Callos and his partner Peter D. Pappas, and the Golfieris acquired the business in 1946. Liz and her husband Gene Golfieri later ran the restaurant with employee Becky Stump. The restaurant occupied the left side of a building along Broadway while Sunseri's Fruit Market used the right portion, in the area of the present-day Milton Savings Bank. Nearby on Broadway were Kurtz's Food Market at 58 Broadway and Limbaugh's Bakery at 54 Broadway, operated by Glenn Limbaugh. At the eastern corner of Bound Avenue and Broadway, a building used for a Milton BPOE Elks Lodge convention in 1913 still stands; after the Elks moved to N. Front St. in the early 1920's, "Doc" Keeley opened a drugstore there, and Birdie Kase operated a cigar and candy store in the corner structure. The Flora Elizabeth Restaurant was once located in the YMCA building.
