Nature
Notchview is a conservation property in Windsor in the eastern Berkshires, where upland farms of the early 19th century gave way by around 1900 to larger private estates. Arthur D. Budd later combined these holdings into Notch View Farm and left it to the Trustees in 1965, with additional land added in 1993. In the Hoosac Range, the property includes Judges Hill and Judges Fort, a stone picnic patio. Red spruce, northern hardwoods, and wetter spruce-fir areas give parts of the landscape a boreal character. Open year-round, it is especially important in winter as one of Massachusetts’s principal cross-country ski centers.
