Kenneth Dubuque Memorial State Forest is a protected backcountry forest in the northern Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts, spanning Hawley, Plainfield, and Savoy. Named in 1985 for Kenneth M. Dubuque, it is managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation and is known for a broad trail system supporting multiple outdoor activities, along with camping, canoeing, fishing, and limited hunting. The forest also preserves evidence of earlier settlement and industry, including the abandoned village of South Hawley, a charcoal kiln, and mill remains at Hallockville Pond. After severe damage from Hurricane Irene forced its closure in 2011, conditions gradually recovered by 2014.
