Maidstone State Park in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom occupies the south and east sides of glacial Maidstone Lake and provides public access to the 796-acre lake within Maidstone State Forest. Developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps and opened in 1938, it was one of the last Vermont state parks created by that program and reflects the rise of automobile travel in its original design. The park retains much of its early character, including a CCC-built pavilion, nature center, stone fireplaces, and some lean-tos. Split into day-use and camping areas, it combines lakeshore recreation, forested terrain, and notable surviving New Deal-era features.
