Job's Temple, a handhewn log church begun in 1860 and finished after the Civil War, is the oldest church in Gilmer County. The Job's Temple Class of the M.E. Church, South was organized in 1866 by the Rev. G.S. McCutchen, its first pastor. Its first trustees were Levi Snider, Salathiel Stalnaker, Wm. Stalnaker, N.W. Stalnaker, Christian Kuhl, James Pickens, and Ed Gainer. It was placed on the National Register in 1979.
