The Simpson-Reed Discovery Trail passes through an ancient old-growth redwood forest with trees of many ages that create a multi-layered canopy, large fallen trees in various stages of decay, and standing trees that are several hundred years old. Along this one-half mile loop, visitors encounter special features of the forest and the inspirational qualities that helped champion its protection.
