Haston Station
History
6
In 1802, Daniel Haston, a Middle Tennessee pioneer and Revolutionary War veteran, came by oxcart from western North Carolina to this valley to settle on Cherokee land. He cleared the valley's massive cane breaks and built a fortified farm to protect his family from Cherokee raids and to defend the station's water source at the base of the hill. The spring flows from an underground stream that originates in one of the largest cave rooms in the Southeastern United States, located in Dry Fork Gulf, a part of Fall Creek Falls State Park.
