Fort Worth Botanic Garden, established in 1934 in Fort Worth’s cultural district, is the oldest major botanic garden in Texas and has roots in the 1912 development of Rock Springs Park around natural springs, streams, and rock outcrops. During the 1930s, New Deal-era workers built its oldest sections, including the Rose Garden, dedicated in 1933, before Rock Springs Park and the Rose Garden were joined to create the garden. Designed in part by Hare & Hare, it grew over time with new landscapes and features. Its historic significance was recognized by its 2009 listing on the National Register of Historic Places, and its mission later expanded through ties to botanical research and education.
