Fort Worth’s museum of science and history began in 1945 as the Fort Worth Children’s Museum, moved to its current site in 1954, and adopted its present name in 1968 as it expanded beyond children’s programming into science and regional history. After a major reconstruction, its current building opened in 2009 on the same site, preserving parts of the earlier museum. The institution combines hands-on science learning with North Texas history through features such as the Omni Theater, Noble Planetarium, Noble Space Gallery, Innovation Studios, dinosaur exhibits, and the Cattle Raisers Museum. Since 1950, its Museum School has reinforced a long-standing educational mission for children and families.
