Livingood (Löwengut) Family

The Livingood family came from Switzerland to the Palatinate. Jacob and his father, John Wendell Leibengut, embarked for America with the first party of Palatines on May 6, 1709, from London, England. In 1728 Jacob Sr. arrived in the Tulpehocken Valley with the second exodus from Schoharie, New York. Jacob Sr. and Margaretha were killed and scalped by Indians near Mount Aetna, Berks County, Pa, on April 8, 1758. Jacob Sr. was born in 1681. Margaretha Sands was his wife. Jacob Jr. died in 1788. Catherine Durr died in 1791. Jacob Jr. and Catherine Durr were joined in holy matrimony on October 2, 1750. Jacob III was born January 26, 1752, and was an ARW captain in the Continental Army in 1781-82.
