Soda Springs in Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite National Park, is both a group of mineral springs and the name commonly used for the log cabin built over them. The area was first inhabited by Indigenous Americans, and John Muir visited in 1869 while grazing sheep in the high country. John Baptiste Lembert established a seasonal homestead there in 1885 and filed a claim under the Homestead Act, and John McCauley later used the homestead seasonally for livestock pasture in 1898. The springs became part of Tuolumne Meadows’ early human history, where grazing, homesteading, and recreation overlapped, and in 1915 the Sierra Club added Parsons Memorial Lodge nearby.
