Bradbury Mountain State Park in Pownal, Maine, is a 730-acre public recreation area centered on a relatively low hill whose summit offers unusually broad views. Established in the 1940s as one of Maine’s first five state parks after the land was acquired from the federal government in 1939, it later expanded across Maine Route 9 with the addition of the Knight Woods parcels in the 1990s and 2000s. Exposed granite and pegmatite add a notable geologic feature at the summit. Though small in scale, the park has become one of Maine’s more popular state parks, with trails used year-round for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and snowmobiling.
