The storehouse held army rations and supplies. Food staples included salt pork, dried beef, corn, beans, rice, and coffee, along with condiments such as salt, brown sugar, vinegar, and molasses. For an army such as the one that built Fort Christmas, equipment and supplies were substantial and included building tools and materials, plus the items needed to keep the army in good repair.
