Apollo's mural and mosaic project, created by Apollo-Ridge students with professional artists and installed in 2018, presents the town's past, present, and future through a mural and seven oval mosaics. The mural moves from dawn to dusk and traces natural resources from pristine conditions to pollution and then restoration for recreation, while featuring silhouettes of Apollo-Ridge students and staff engaged in sports, outdoor activities, art, and responses to community issues. The mosaics highlight the 1969 formation of the Apollo-Ridge School District, Officer Leonard C. Miller's death during the January 3, 1980 Kill for Thrill spree, General Samuel M. Jackson's Civil War service and later role in organizing the Apollo Trust Company, Apollo's early history under the name Warren and its association with Edward Warren and Drake's Log Cabin built around 1816, Nellie Bly's connection to the area and her home's 1995 landmark designation, the town's diverse industrial and agricultural past including the Apollo Trust Company established in 1871, and the borough's 1848 renaming to Apollo and its summer tradition inspired by the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing. Apollo, the Roaring Run Trail, Apollo's Kiski Riverfront Trail, and the Kiski-Conemaugh Water Trail are key parts of the Pittsburgh-to-Harrisburg Main Line Canal Greenway, a 320-mile corridor of hub communities and heritage sites connected by land and water trails along the route of the historic Main Line Canal.
