Toy Town Museum in East Aurora, New York, grew from a local effort to honor Western New York’s century-long toy-making tradition, which included more than 100 companies. Originally on the Fisher-Price campus, it connected popular toys to the region’s industrial and cultural past through educational and entertaining exhibits. Its permanent displays included the Fisher-Price Archive Collection, tracing the company from 1931 onward, along with promotional savings banks, a handmade Allan Herschell carousel, restored early 1900s carousel horses, a furnished 12-room doll house, an Erector Set display, Pez dispensers, and Palmer Cox’s Brownies. By May 2009, it had closed to the public and left its original site while seeking a new location.
