The flag pole was made in Marathon, New York, by the Climax Company and was erected in 1914 by the Sons of Veterans of the Civil War. The original pole stood 110 feet tall and had an arrow weather vane. It was restored and rededicated on September 8, 2007, preserving a piece of Marathon's history as a place of community pride.
