North Common Meadow is a 25-acre open space preserve near the center of Petersham, Massachusetts, within a broader protected landscape that includes Harvard Forest and Brooks Woodland Preserve. Managed as open grassland to retain the area's rural character, it was once pasture and later part of the Nichewaug Inn golf course. The Trustees of Reservations acquired it in 1975 through an anonymous donor's gift, and it also falls within the Petersham Common Historic District, added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Today it supports low-impact recreation and provides habitat for ground-nesting birds including bobolinks, red-winged blackbirds, and eastern meadowlarks.
