Nature
Founded in 1891, The New York Botanical Garden is a National Historic Landmark and an internationally significant center for enjoying, studying, and understanding plants. Its 250-acre grounds include the nation's premier Victorian glasshouse, 50 acres of native forest, 48 gardens, and living plant collections with greater diversity than any other public garden in the United States, along with two children's gardens that provide hands-on experiences with the natural world. Its landscapes, flower shows, exhibitions, continuing education courses, workshops, and public events offer insight into the world of plants, while its researchers work around the globe and in on-site laboratories to study plant evolution, habitats, ecology, molecular and genetic traits, and potential uses. This scientific work supports advances in human health, sustainable forestry and agriculture, and the conservation of Earth's natural resources, continuing a mission of enriching people's lives and preserving the plant kingdom for future generations.
