A 19 foot canoe found in the Tampa Bay area in 1980 was believed at that time to be a seafaring canoe 50 to 100 years old. It is unlikely to be of Seminole or Miccosukee construction, but it may have come from the islands, Central America, or even South America. Made of mahogany, it is a good example of hand-hewn construction.
