The Wayne Village Park was established in 1955 through the efforts of Russell "Bugsy” Herchelroth. Improvements to the park came from the Elmer L. and Hazel V. Wirebaugh Memorial Gifts. The original park board was John Tyson, Russell Herchelroth, Marshall Matson, Paul Hower, Stanley Salisbury, Cecil Sawyer, and Robert Stewart.
