From about 1883 to 1910, the Manassa Myers, Sr. family owned and operated a production mill and three beehive kilns here, first fueled by wood and later by natural gas. Using clay from an adjacent pit, they produced drainage tiles, hollow cylinder-shaped sections, for local use. Such drainage tiles have been used throughout Indiana to develop and maintain farmland.
