In 1804, James Stevenson donated three acres to the Associate Church for church and cemetery purposes, to be known as Massie’s Creek Church lot and cemetery, with the Rev. Robert Armstrong serving as pastor from 1803 to 1821. The pioneer graveyard also holds soldiers whose memory is honored there.
