Big Bald is a 5,516-foot mountain on the North Carolina-Tennessee border along the Appalachian Trail. The highest peak in the Bald Mountains, part of the Blue Ridge within the Appalachian chain, it also stands as the highest point in Unicoi County, Tennessee. Its summit is an Appalachian bald, marked by a broad, open top, thick vegetation, and sweeping 360-degree views. Because of its height, visibility, and location on this elevated section of the range, Big Bald remains a notable landmark for hikers traveling through the area.
