Golden Valley’s local history museum occupies the city’s oldest building, an 1882 one-room Mission Church founded by early settlers and moved to its current site eight years later. After becoming Methodist in 1907 and serving until a larger church replaced it in the 1950s, the building was acquired by the Golden Valley Historical Society in 1997 and adapted for collections, exhibits, and public programs while preserving its upstairs chapel. Founded in 1974, the society preserves artifacts, documents, photographs, oral histories, and video records. Its main exhibit, No Place Like Home, traces Golden Valley’s past from prehistoric times to the present through more than 20 displays and ongoing community programs.
