Charles Harris Eyre served as a technical sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a B-17 gunner with the 384 Bomb Group, 545 Squadron. He was shot down over Schweinfurt, Germany, on his twenty-fourth mission on April 13, 1944, and was killed in action.
