Adams Lake State Park is a 96-acre public recreation area at the northern edge of West Union in southern Ohio, divided roughly equally between land and water around a lake originally created to supply the town’s drinking water. After the state of Ohio acquired the lake and surrounding land in 1950, the park was established as both a recreational site and an important natural area. Its most significant feature is Adams Lake Prairie State Nature Preserve, a rare dry-prairie remnant and one of Ohio’s last prairie pockets, supporting distinctive plants and preserving a landscape shaped by fire, grazing, and drought.
