Scotchman Peak, a 7,018-foot mountain in northern Idaho's Cabinet Mountains, is the highest point in Bonner County and a striking landmark above Lake Pend Oreille and the Clark Fork River valley. Known for its sharp prominence and steep relief, it rises about 3,000 feet above West Fork Blue Creek in just 1.5 miles. The summit is a popular hiking destination via a trail that climbs 3,700 feet over 4.2 miles. A fire lookout stood there from the 1920s to the 1950s, underscoring its commanding position, and the mountain is also noted for its long, cold, snowy winters and cool to warm summers.
