On the afternoon of May 19, 1863, this brigade supported Blair's Division, with the 72nd Ohio in front on the right of the road and the 95th Ohio in its rear, and the 114th Illinois on the left of the road with the 93rd Indiana on its left. About dusk that evening, Blair's Division retired and Buckland ordered pickets and guards to the front. The brigade remained in the advance in this position until the evening of May 21, when it was withdrawn except for the 93rd Indiana, which did not withdraw until the morning of May 22. On May 22, the brigade, except for the 72nd Ohio, which was ordered to take position on the left of the advance of Col. Thomas Kilby Smith's Brigade, formed line on the left of the road. Casualties on May 19 were 12 in the 114th Illinois, 6 in the 93rd Indiana, 14 in the 72nd Ohio, and 2 in the 95th Ohio, for an aggregate of 34, including 4 killed and 30 wounded. On May 22, the brigade suffered 9 wounded in all: 2 in the 114th Illinois, 2 in the 93rd Indiana, 1 in the 72nd Ohio, and 4 in the 95th Ohio.
