Nub's Nob, a ski area near Harbor Springs in northern Michigan, opened in 1958 after Norman and Dorie Sarns moved their family ski project inland from Cross Village in search of more reliable snowfall. Named for founder Norman "Nubby" Sarns, it began with three trails and a chairlift, then expanded quickly despite a 1961 lift control malfunction that caused many injuries and one death. After Dorie Sarns sold the resort in 1977 to Pleasantview Ski Corporation, further growth added new terrain, snowmaking technology, glade skiing, and Pintail Peak. By 2021, the area had 53 runs across three peaks and 10 lifts.
