The Highlands at Harbor Springs

The Highlands at Harbor Springs is a longstanding ski resort in northern Michigan near Harbor Springs, now owned and operated by Boyne Resorts. It began in 1955 as Harbor Highlands with one slope and a rope tow, then closed after financial struggles. Boyne acquired the property and adjoining 2,900 acres in the early 1960s and reopened it in 1963 as Boyne Highlands. That reopening gave it a notable place in ski-lift history with two three-person chairlifts regarded as the first triple chairlifts in the world. Later expansions and lift upgrades, along with its use as a filming location for The Big Break X: Michigan, helped sustain its prominence.
