Driftwood Beach State Recreation Site is a 36.7-acre Oregon state park on the Pacific coast about 3 miles north of Waldport, set between U.S. Highway 101 and the ocean. Known for easy beach access, shore pines, and driftwood lining the broad beach, it is open year-round without fees. The park began when the state acquired 7.70 beachfront acres in 1968 and grew in 1986 through L. Presley Gill’s donation of 29 additional acres. Its bluff-top parking makes it useful for watching winter storm surf from cars, while calmer weather brings beachcombing, kite flying, picnicking, fishing, and travelers on the Oregon Coast Trail.
