Biscuit Run Park
Nature
Biscuit Run Park is a 1,190-acre park in Albemarle County, Virginia, just south of Charlottesville, and the county’s largest park. The property had been planned for a major housing development, but after the recession and housing market collapse, Virginia and its Department of Conservation and Recreation bought it from Forest Lodge, LLC in 2010 for $21.48 million in cash and tax credits. Although the purchase was intended to create a state park, that plan ended when the General Assembly did not fund it. Albemarle County then leased the land in 2018 and opened the park in 2024, with trails, parking, bathrooms, and protected forestland.
