Seneca Chief Red Jacket (ca. 1758-1830) lived in a cabin on this site when this area was part of the Buffalo Creek Reservation. Known for his great oratory and keen mind, Red Jacket was an eloquent advocate for the preservation of the Seneca way of life and the retention of indigenous lands. Belonging to the Wolf Clan, his Indian name means "He Keeps Them Awake".
