Participants in a workshop sponsored by Metro Parks and the Timber Framers Guild built and erected this building. The Guild is dedicated to educating the public about the preservation and use of the centuries-old construction system utilizing large wood posts and beams. Timber framing was used in many farm buildings. Simple tools were used to construct large, strong structures held together with wooden pegs and interlocking joints. Pre-assembled sections called bents are raised into position with pike poles. The beam joints were cut at the Farm, and the building was erected as part of a public display by Metro Parks staff and volunteers and members of the Timber Framers Guild in June 2001.
