The Natchez Trace Parkway leads travelers four hundred forty-four miles through three states and ten thousand years of North American history. Designated as a National Scenic Byway and All-American Road, it encourages travel through historic and scenic landscapes at a leisurely pace. This section covers miles three hundred twenty-five to four hundred forty-four, with three hundred twenty-four more miles continuing to the south. Along this stretch, the Double Arch Bridge over Birdsong Hollow and TN-96 is an award-winning design; the Gordon House, built in 1818, is one of two remaining buildings from the historic boatmen era of 1780 to 1820 on the parkway; Jackson Falls features a steep paved path to the falls; the Meriwether Lewis site honors the leader of the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery expedition, who died here in 1809; and Rock Spring is known for attracting hundreds of hummingbirds each fall and for its plants and wildlife throughout the year.
