Corporal George G. Carlough gave his life for his country in Viet Nam on January 22, 1969. He was honored by the Mayor and Council of Pompton Lakes on October 23, 1972, during the administration of Mayor John D. Sterling, with council members Carmine Cicchino, Donald Krom, Robert Shanholtz, Jon Spinnanger, Roy Thomas, and Benjamin White.
