Saint Clair Hollow was named in honor of General Arthur Saint Clair. The source of this hollow is a large spring two miles south, where General Saint Clair, in a log cabin, spent his last days. He was a Major General in the American Revolution, President of the Continental Congress, first Governor of the Northwestern Territory, and a pioneer ironmaster in western Pennsylvania. Born 1736 and died 1818, he was buried in Greensburg.
