Seul Choix Light stands on Lake Michigan at Seul Choix Pointe in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where it long marked the only harbor of refuge along a dangerous stretch of coast. Established with a temporary light in 1892 and placed in its present tower in 1895, it filled a major navigational gap on the southern shore of the peninsula as shipping grew. Built in the Italianate style, the station included not only the lighthouse but also fog signal, lifesaving, and support buildings, many of which survive. Though automated in 1972 and left unmanned in 1973, it remains an active light and a preserved historic site operated by the Gulliver Historical Society.
