The Maple Grove Veterans Memorial honors the men and women who served the country to protect freedom, especially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, and is dedicated in memory of Spc. Donald L. Wheeler Jr. (DJ). It also honors those who died while in the service of their country: in the Civil War, Frederick E. Corwin, William R. Ensign, Benjamin Ford, Eben Howard, Charles C. Hungerford, Leeland Frank, Hawley Nearpass, George C. Perry, William H. Perry, Silas Swan, Charles D. Warner, Frederick Winchell, and Byron Stoddard; in World War I, Ernest H. Simons and Jay W. Simons; in World War II, Lynford Graham, Vernon Smalley, and Melvin L. King; in Korea, Drexel E. Tucker; and in Vietnam, Timothy J. Ballinger, Robert James Jenks, and James Mark Morgan.
